From the TBJ, all good news for Triangle January 2010 Real Estate sales numbers. Versus 2009 - units up, prices up - the units up coincides with what I am seeing in the office but on pricing, not so sure...with the number of relists and reset sales prices, this number may be a bit off.

The report has apparently not been released yet, but Builder Magazine is ranking Raleigh as the #1 Healthiest Housing Market for 2010 via information provided in this Triangle Business Journal article. Builder Magazine uses a company called Hanley Wood Market Intelligence to develop their list - and different metrics such as employment rates, home price appreciation, job growth, and income growth to rank MSAs.
The article itself is about builders snapping up lots in the Triangle - with target lot price aligning for homes to be built at 300K or less -
December Pending Home Sales Edge Upward

Here's the link. The National Association of Realtors (c) just released their pending home sales index for December 2009. Per their survey, pending home sales inched upward 1 percent for December vs. November - and up over 10 percent vs. December 2008. This is considered a leading indicator for home sales (completed closings/escrows).
NAR pulls this data from local and regional Multiple Listing Services - when a home is noted in the database as "Pending" or "Under Contract" -
