Downtown Raleigh is experiencing a renaissance. City leaders and private investors have committed dollars and energy to bring residents, businesses, entertainment and nightlife back into Downtown. It is estimated that by 2008, private and public investment will approach $1 billion to make this happen.
Key public works projects include the new Convention Center, as well as the refurbishment and re-opening of Fayetteville Street - Downtown Raleigh's Main Street.
Private investors and developers have joined in with a variety of mixed use developments, condominium projects, hotels, clubs, and restaurants. Once sleepy neighborhoods just outside of the city center are coming alive as folks discover the benefits of Downtown living.
